March, 2017 at Urban Home Blog
Here are our plans for the busy month of March at UrbanHome Blog:
- Recalibrate in Hollywood after the madhouse of the Academy Awards. Make post-Oscars pilgrimage to Larry Edmunds, have dinner at Musso and Frank followed by cocktails at The Library Bar at The Hollywood Roosevelt.
- Spend sunny spring afternoon poking around Little Tokyo. Musts: sushi at Gen, Japanese grocery splurge at Marukai, coffee and donuts at Dulce, and the Godzilla store.
- Those doctors' appointments made so dutifully in January? The first of them are coming up. Go.
- Work on wine journals for AWS review.
- Begin process of hardening seedlings to the outdoors by moving them to the patio during daylight. Watch them for signs of distress or thriving, and care for them accordingly.
- Have furnace cleaned and covered in association with seasonal shutoff.
- Get ready for seasonal closet switchover by ordering closet supplies including cedar blocks and shoe care, lily of the valley drawer liner and sachets, and vacuum packs.
- Try on suits to determine which to retain and which to donate. Take retained dress clothes to tailor for mending, resizing, and cleaning.
- Contact human services organizations to determine who can best use clothing donations, including work training programs for dress clothes.
- Go through LA Times Spring Preview to clip notices of upcoming events of interest. Transfer the information to the household calendar.
- On the Vernal Equinox, open all of the windows and doors to allow the four winds to bring the light half of the year in. Concurrently, burn sage in every room to allow the four winds to carry the dark half of the year out.
- Serve an Equinox breakfast of eggs, freshly baked bread with butter, and orange juice to welcome springtime.
- As March closes, go through household to-do lists beginning with January. Affirm successes, acknowledge missteps, correct mistakes. Move into second quarter of the year with the gifts of equilibrium from the equinox, and action forward from the Aries moon.
