Here are our plans for the spooky month
of October at Urban Home Blog.
- On first crisp autumn weekend, bake cinnamon rolls.
- Go through baking pantry to be sure pantry goods and bakeware are up to date for fall baking.
- Go on picture-taking safaris at Griffith Park and Hollywood Forever.
- On Halloween decorating weekend, make baked rigaboni and pumpkin cupcakes.
- Make and can red hots, pumpkin and apricot butters, and Santa Maria salsa in anticipation of holiday gift-giving.
- Obtain supply of retro candy bags for trick or treat. Fill with miniature chocolates for treat or toy bugs and spiders for eek.
- Spend a couple of cool weeknights at local pubs The Pikey and The Abbey.
- Make satin smoking jackets for John and myself.
- Have furnace and vents serviced in anticipation of cool weather. Have air conditioners serviced and sealed for the season.
- Meet with financial advisor for bi-annual review.
- Send notes/emails to wine country friends and colleagues in celebration of harvest. Assess household wine inventory and reserve futures of promising releases.
- Spend week in Solvang for harvest wine tastings and Scarecrow Festival.
- Send donations to bat, bee, and palm conservancies.
- Continue listening to weekly online spiritual broadcast The Happy Medium.
- Retreive, cleanse, and respectfully place in honor collection of fortune telling ephemera, including spirit boards, planchettes, and card decks.
