Here are some of our plans for the
month of gratitude at Urban Home Blog.
- Burn sage on All Souls day both to honor the spirits of the departed and to cleanse home in preparation for the new year
- Put away Halloween décor, completing an inventory for insurance and family history
- Send donations to The Bowery Mission and Project Angel Food; make note in household calendar to check on need in February
- Go through household calendar to confirm appointments through New Year's, including doctor, dentist, and pharmacist
- Plan holiday getaway in Solvang
- Order 2018 almanac
- In memory of autumn in New York, order French Roast Java and Pumpkin Spice coffee from McNulty's
- Arrange and place displays of gourds, wheat, and autumn leaves
- Order and brine turkey for Thanksgiving
- Plan and order ingredients and supplies for Thanksgiving dessert board: pumpkin pie, apple pie, spice cake
- Make red-hots and giardienera for Thanksgiving relish tray
- Make and can applesauce for Thanksgiving guests to take home
- Assess and care for Thanksgiving serveware: launder and iron table lines, oil down wooden-handled serving pieces, polish silver pieces
