Here are our plans for setting up our urban home for the new year:

  • Pick up annual pizza and bottle of wine from The Palermo to ring in the New Year with The Thin Man marathon on TCM.
  • Take long new year's weekend to thoroughly clean house. Burn sage to clear out stale or accumulated energy.
  • Set up home office for 2018:
    • Create new files (finance including taxes, medical); move 2017 files; archive 2012
    • Inventory office supplies to replace and replenish during start-of-year sales
  • Made medical, dental, and car appointments for the year. Put in 2018 calendar with reminders.
  • Take down holiday decorations and send to storage.
  • Invest in health-conscious cookbooks for a year of healthier eating.
  • Schedule appointments with nutritionist, personal trainer, and Ayurveda practitioner.
  • Go through clothes and linen closets to identify items that need replacement. Donate usable clothing to Housing Works, and usable bedding to pet shelter.
  • Rotate the mattress. Buy new mattress cover and pillows.
  • Build a shoe platform.
  • Spend birthday weekend in Solvang. Have birthday dinner at The Hitching Post. Visit Sides, Foxen, Loring, and Gainey.
  • Schedule birthday spa day.
  • Catch up on the last of the Oscars watch list in anticipation of February's Academy Awards nominations.
